Breastfeeding Peer Helpers
Jenna Fink
While I was breastfeeding I had some questions and a friend of mine said "call Celia she has a job in breastfeeding." I remember calling her and she was really helpful. Two years later when I got this job I realized being a peer helper is what Celia was. This job has been an eye opener for me. I breastfed because I knew it was better but until I started researching it, I did not truly realize how amazing breastmilk is. It fights cancer! AMAZING! It reduces the risks of SIDS by 73%! In the United States alone 250-300 babies die each year from complications due to formula. Breastfeeding is what we're designed for. Well obviously I am a huge advocate. I have been a peer for almost two years and I really enjoy it! I have two children. Eliana is 4 and Sammy is 3. I breastfed Eliana until she was 11 months when she weaned herself because I was pregnant and Sammy was 13 months when I weaned him. Some of my favorite memories of breastfeeding are looking down and just seeing them look up at me, there is just something so special about those moments. I also loved that when ever my kids were fussy I had a simple fix! There were times when breastfeeding was hard, but it was so worth it! My kids had the best start I could give them.

Hallie Whitley
Breastfeeding is the next step after your pregnancy. It is the best way to snuggle & feed your baby at the same time. I had never really given breastfeeding much thought until I went to some breastfeeding trainings & started working for WIC. Once I read more about it, I realized I couldn't give anything else but my milk to our girls. I nursed our older daughter for 13 months, & did the same with our younger daughter who came along 3 years later. Nursing was one of the best experiences I have ever had.
Mary
Mary is a nutritionist and big time into health, she is an active YMCA member and believes in breastfeeding 100%. But when your so into health how could you not! She is also a certified lactation consultant and always here to help!
Tracy
Traci is a fireball so watch out! She is a nutritionist and also the first person you will see when you come into WIC. She is helpful and very to the point. Point being BREASTFEED!
Chanda
Chanda is a permanant fixture at WIC. She has seen many generations pass through the doors, and has been working for WIC for over 30 years! During her time at WIC she has realized the importance of breastfeeding and encouraged both of her daughters to breastfeed!
